El número de árboles por hectárea como variable predictora de la cantidad de huevos de Ochlerotatus taeniorhynchus Wiedemann (Diptera: Culicidae) en manglares al sur de Pinar del Río

Abstract
With the aim to determine what kind of relationship takes place between the oviposition of O. taeniorhynchus Wiedemann and some dendrometric variables in a mangrove forest, was carried out an experiment in coast sector La Coloma-Las Canas, to the south of Pinar del Río province. There were established two phases corresponding to biphasic sample: the first one beginning with the previous fotointerpretation of a systematic sampling, according to lined plots (as recommended by FAO, 1994). The second one based in a stratification according to the density. The procedure for taking samples of the substrate in order to extract and analyse the mosquito eggs, took into account the methodology proposed by Ritchie and Addison (1992). The data were processed according to the principal component analysis and correlation and regression analyses. For the latest analysis, several kind of models were applied, but the best results were obtained throughout the model y = e (b0 + (b1/t)). The predicting variable was the mangrove density, and the dependent variable was the quantity of mosquito eggs. The results are shown in tables, figures and maps, indicating that the higher correlation with the mosquito eggs variable took place between the density and the existence of wood in m3 /ha.
