Comportamiento de progenies de polinización libre y controlada de un huerto semillero de Pinus caribaea var. caribaea

Abstract
Se compara en el presente trabajo el comportamiento de numerosas familias de progenies obtenidas por polinización libre y controlada en un huerto semillero de Pinus caribaea var. caribaea. El material experimental se prueba en dos ensayos de campo ubicados en dos localidades de la provincia de Pinar del Río; 20 de Mayo, en Guane y Cajálbana en Bahía Honda. Este trabajo informa sobre la capacidad general de combinación de las familias representadas, en parámetros de interés económico como son la altura, diámetro, rectitud del fuste y características de la ramificación. Conocer el comportamiento de dichos caracteres es básico para ejecutar el aclareo o reordenamiento de los huertos semilleros y el programa de cruzamiento, dirigidos con vistas a un segundo ciclo de mejora. Partiendo de este material experimental se hacen estimaciones sobre la heredabilidad para la altura y el diámetro en ambos ensayos. Los valores encontrados (altura 0,79 y 0,66 y diámetro 0,27 y 0,57) indican que la selección entre familias conduce a ganancias sustanciales en una generación de mejora. La inclusión de testigos en estas pruebas hizo posible calcular tales ganancias genéticas, así como la ganancia obtenible, si se utiliza solamente el mejor 20% de los tratamientos representados. En este caso los porcentajes de ganancia promedio de los dos ensayos son de 20,8% para rectitud del fuste y 39,9% en características de la ramificación.
