Agroforestry actions with native species in areas surrounding the lime hydration processing plant of the Mella municipality, Cuba

Abstract
Agro-industrial and agroforestry activities in the Mella Municipality, Cuba, have been based on the implementation of traditional production practices with native species, which, to date, have been poorly documented. In order to propose agro-reforestation actions in areas surrounding the Lime Hydration Processing Plant, to mitigate the polluting effects, a semi-structured survey was applied to seven workers of the Plant and 20 neighbors of the surrounding community. The information was complemented with visits to the area, review of the environmental management system,and consultation of lthe available literature. The identification of the floristic component and the analysis of agroecosystem typologies were carried out. The samplingof soilIt was done in the form of a sealed envelopeat a depth of 0-20 cm. The variablesThe determined were organic matter, pH in water and KCL, phosphorus and assimilable potassium. The soil was taken from the soil map scale 1:25000 of the Soil Institute, MINAG, belongs to the Sialitic Brown group, genetic type Loose Brown, has adequate fertility, manifested in organic matter content of 3.3%, which is categorized as Medium, suitable for a great diversity of crops for sustainable management and soil conservation. In conclusion, sowing and planting are promoted aimed at guaranteeing the quality of food destined for the population of the surrounding areas.
