Main Article Content
Abstract
A comparison of the yields between two species of African mahogany of the gender Khaya (Khaya nyasica Staff. and Khaya senegalensis A. Juss.) and their natural irbid with two American species Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Juss. and Swietenia macrophylla King is presented. Data of planted trees were taken in two places of Camagüey province. The diameter of the stump in a height of 1.30 m above the soil until the first branch and the total height were also measured. The average volume and the mean yearly increase for each species were also calculated. The yield in the two african species is higher than the american species. The natural hybrid obtained from Khaya nyasica x Khaya senegalensis showed greater yield than the rest of the species for both types of soil. The species Swietenia mahagoni showed the smalles development.
