Abstract
Los suelos de la Estación Experimental Forestal de Viñales, Pinar del Río, son representativos de los suelos Guane derivados de lasrocas esquistosas y pizarrosas, que se encuentran en grandes extensionesy están disponibles para reforestación. Siete perfiles de los suelos fuerondescritos y sus microperfiles y el mapa del suelo fueron preparados. Elanálisis físico de estos suelos indica que el subsuelo contiene más arcillaque el suelo superficial y el drenaje interno es deficiente. El análisis químicomuestra que son suelos ácidos y pobres en materia orgánica, fósforo y potasio.Se recomienda subsolar estos suelos para aumentar su profundidad efectiva,aplicar fertilizantes químicos para corregir su baja fertilidad y utilizar lachapeadora para el control de las malas hierbas y dejarlas sobre la superficiecomo mulch o arrope. Para la producción de posturas de pinos en el viverose recomienda la utilización de una mezcla de 90% de suelo Guane loamarenoso y 10% de cachaza bien descompuesta.
