Abstract
Este trabajo trata sobre el estudio de las propiedades físico-mecánicas y el secado artificial e impregnación con sales hidrosolubles de la madera de la especie Eritrina sp., comúnmente llamada búcare, la cual abunda en áreas cafetaleras, fundamentalmente en zonas de las provincias orientales. Los ensayos realizados se basaron en normas internacionales y métodos convencionales utilizados en el país. Los resultados muestran la limitada posibilidad de empleo que tiene esta madera, cuestión que es evidente al compararse con especies blandas como la Spondias mombin L. (jobo) y la Bursera simaruba (almácigo).
