Inventarios de colonias de nidificaciones de Columba leucocephala

Abstract
La torcaza cabeciblanca (Columba leucocephala), ha sido una de las especies a las que se les ha dedicado especial atención en nuestro país. Chamizo et al (1980) y Vázquez y Nieves (1980) han iniciado las investigaciones en esta especie, fundamentalmente con relación a aspectos reproductivos. En dichos trabajos se han desarrollado las principales características reproductivas de dos colonias de nidificación: Isla de la Juventud y Jagüey Grande, las que se estudiaron en períodos reproductivos diferentes. Los trabajos más recientes desarrollados por Rodríguez et al (1981) fueron realizados simultáneamente en dos localidades, una de las cuales (Guira de Ponce), se estudió por primera vez en Cuba. No obstante, hasta el presente no se ha brindado información donde se registre para un mismo período reproductivo la existencia de varias colonias de nidificación para todo nuestro territorio. A través de los registros de inventario de fauna cinegética que se desarrollan en el Centro de Investigación Forestal del MINAG, se ha preparado este informe, con el propósito de dar a conocer a algunas características sobre la distribución y formaciones boscosas donde se concentran las colonias de nidificación de Columba leucocephala durante la etapa de reproducción de 1981.
