Mathematical modelling of the diameter and height growing of Pinus maestrensis Bisse at the Guisa Silvicultural Unit
Main Article Content
Abstract
Mathematical modelling constitutes a very useful tool for the planning and administration of the forest ecosystems. With the objective of predicting the behavior of the mean diameter and the mean height in plantations of Pinus maestrensis Bisse at Guisa the Silvicultural Unit beloging to Integral Forest Enterprise Bayamo, eleven models of lineal and non- lineal regression were evaluated. The model of the best goodness of fit for the mean diameter was that of Gompertz, being able to explain high variability, with a coefficient of determination of 94.3% and parameters of high significance (p < 0.001), and, for the mean height, the model of Hossfeld I (modified) with a coefficient of determination of 95,9% and parameters of high significance (p < 0.001). The curves that describe the evolution in time of the annual mean increment (IMA), and the annual periodical increment (ICA) of this variable are provided.
